P1. Overview and Scope
HostMyEvent, Inc. ("we," "us," "our") operates HostMyEvent.com as a two-sided event services marketplace. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Platform, including Browsers, Event Creators, Venue Owners, and Vendors. It covers data collected through our website, applications, APIs, and all related services.
We are committed to transparency about our data practices. We collect only what we need to operate the Platform, we do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we implement appropriate security measures to protect your data.
P2. Data We Collect
P2.1 Identity and Account Data
When you create an account, we collect: full name, email address, profile avatar image, account role (Browser, Event Creator, Venue Owner, Vendor), and authentication credentials managed by Clerk (we do not store passwords — Clerk handles authentication).
P2.2 Business Data (Vendors and Venue Owners)
When a Vendor or venue owner creates a Listing, we collect: business name, service category, city and state, pricing (minimum and maximum), service description, and photos. This data is publicly visible as part of the Listing.
P2.3 Event Data (Event Creators)
When an Event Creator submits an Event Request, we collect: event type, desired date, guest count, budget range, and event city. This data is shared with qualifying Vendors on the Platform's marketplace feed.
P2.4 Transaction and Payment Data
All payment processing is performed by Stripe. We do not store payment card numbers or full bank account details. We store: Stripe Customer ID, Stripe Connect Account ID (for Vendors), subscription plan and status, subscription end date, Booking amounts, payment statuses, and Stripe Payment Intent IDs.
P2.5 Bidding and Booking Data
We store: Bid price, Bid message, Bid status (pending, accepted, declined, withdrawn), Booking amounts, and Booking status.
P2.6 Review Data
Reviews may be submitted without a Platform account. We store: reviewer name (as self-reported), star rating (1–5), review text, and submission date and time. We do not independently verify reviewer identity.
P2.7 Messaging and Inquiry Data
We store: sender identity, recipient Listing, inquiry subject line, message body, read/unread status, and timestamp. Messages are accessible to the sender and recipient and may be reviewed by HostMyEvent for Terms compliance.
P2.8 Referral Data
We store: each user's unique referral code, the identity of the user who referred them, referral event type (currently: account creation/signup), and credits awarded. Additional referral triggers (such as first event creation or first booking) are reserved for future activation and will be disclosed when implemented.
P2.9 Saved Listings Data
We store: user ID, saved listing type (venue or vendor), and saved listing ID, linked to your account.
P2.10 Usage and Analytics Data
We collect: page views, listing views, inquiry clicks, offer clicks, save/favourite actions, session identifiers (anonymous), referrer URLs, IP addresses, browser type, device type, and operating system. This data is used to improve the Platform, personalize results, and measure marketing effectiveness.
P2.11 Communications Data
If you contact HostMyEvent support, we retain the content of that communication and your contact details for the purpose of responding and improving our services.

P3. How We Use Your Data

- –Marketing and communications — to send service updates, promotional emails, and referral notifications (with your consent where required)
- –Legal compliance — to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal process
- –Safety and fraud prevention — to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, harmful, or illegal activity
P4. Legal Basis for Processing (CCPA and Applicable Law)
HostMyEvent processes your personal information on the following legal bases:
Contract performance — processing necessary to deliver the Platform services you have requested
Legitimate interests — analytics, fraud prevention, marketing (where not overridden by your interests)
Legal obligation — compliance with applicable law and regulation
Consent — for optional features such as marketing communications (which you may withdraw at any time)
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including: the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used; the right to request deletion of personal information; the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (HostMyEvent does not sell personal information); and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. P5. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
P5.2 Public Data
Listing data (business name, category, city, pricing, description, photos, ratings, and reviews) is publicly accessible without a Platform account and may be indexed by search engines.
P5.3 Event Request Visibility
Event Request data (event type, date, guest count, budget, city) is shared with all qualifying Vendors on the marketplace feed. HostMyEvent reserves the right to introduce Event Creator visibility controls in future releases.
P5.4 Legal Disclosure
We may disclose personal information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of HostMyEvent, our users, or the public.
P5.5 Business Transfers
If HostMyEvent, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice of any such transfer and any choices you may have.
P5.6 No Sale of Personal Information
HostMyEvent does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third-party advertisers or data brokers.

P6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
- –Account data — retained for the life of the account plus 3 years after deletion
- –Transaction and Booking data — retained for 7 years for financial and tax compliance
- –Review data — retained indefinitely as part of the public Platform record unless removed
- –Messaging data — retained for 2 years after the message thread is closed
- –Usage and analytics data — retained for up to 2 years in aggregate form
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting leslieramos537@gmail.com. Note that certain data may be retained after deletion where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.
P7. Data Security
HostMyEvent implements technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
- –All data transmitted between your browser and the Platform is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS
- –Database access is controlled through row-level security policies (Supabase RLS)
- –Authentication is managed by Clerk — HostMyEvent does not store passwords
- –Payment data is processed by Stripe — HostMyEvent does not store card numbers
- –Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only
- –API keys and secrets are stored as environment variables, not in source code
No security measure is perfect. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
P9. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 18, we will promptly delete it. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately at leslieramos537@gmail.com.
P10. Your Rights and Choices
P10.1 Access and Correction
You may access and update your account information at any time through your dashboard settings. If you believe any data we hold about you is inaccurate, you may request correction by contacting us.
P10.2 Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by contacting leslieramos537@gmail.com. Certain data may be retained as described in Section P6.
P10.3 Marketing Communications
You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us. You will continue to receive transactional messages related to your account and Bookings.
P10.4 California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents may submit requests to: (a) know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, or sell; (b) delete personal information; (c) opt out of any sale of personal information (HostMyEvent does not sell personal information); and (d) not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. P11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised Policy on the Platform and sending notice to your registered email address, at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
